About

ECM Institute is the training division of DataVault, Inc., formerly known as TrainingVault. DataVault is family owned and operated by Byron Aulick, President and April Aulick, CEO, a husband and wife team. The business was founded in 1993 in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Byron Aulick, President

Byron Aulick is ECMs, CDIA+, PDI+, Project+ certified and has been deeply involved in the document imaging and management industry since the mid 1980′s. He has sold, implemented, trained on and supported EDM systems ever since. He is a Consultant and Sr. Instructor who has written most of the training materials for the courses DataVault provides. Mr. Aulick’s commanding tenure in this field has given him exceptional skills that make him a highly sought teacher and consultant.

When Mr. Aulick entered this field he began as a component level technician servicing bar code equipment for a co-inventor of Code-39. He later began installing and servicing large document management systems for the banking industry. He quickly realized he loved the technology and began a career that led him to travel nationally consulting for banks and speaking at their conferences.

Mr. Aulick’s background in sales that started at the early age of 13, coupled with the last 25 years experience in the EDM / ECM industry has given him a keen understanding of all aspects of document management sales. Byron has used his experience to hone his skills – successfully performing needs assessments and then designing effective solutions for his clients. He has developed a curriculum for teaching EDM Sales professionals how to effectively sell solutions.

Mr. Aulick has traveled internationally providing his expertise training and consulting for Fortune 500 companies, the Federal government and the D.O.D, as well as many other companies in the public and private sectors. He has successfully trained thousands of students to become certified, as well as become better sales performers and highly skilled and knowledgable ECM professionals. Mr. Aulick has used his expertise to consult on various projects, such as; developing and writing the U.S. Dept. of Human Services Child Support Agency’s Guide to Document Imaging; he has helped many companies and federal agencies, as well as non-profits successfully start scanning bureau’s so they could scan for their clients; he has managed several large projects for Gas utility companies consisting of millions of images and enormous amounts of data, and the list goes on.

April Aulick, CEO

Mrs. Aulick is a CompTIA CDIA+ certified professional with over 17 years experience in the ECM / EDM industry. She has been managing the company’s operations, financials, marketing, HR and scanning departments successfully since the mid 90’s. Mrs. Aulick has a strong sales and marketing background that includes direct, print advertising and automotive sales, among others.

April is a trainer and consultant. She has authored and delivers training for teaching scanner operators / administrators how to successfully produce high-quality scanning images, teaching them all the processes involved from project scope to output. Mrs. Aulick consults with her customers on how to operate high-production successful scanning businesses. She has trained the U.S. Treasury Department, Naval Security Group Activity, many non-profit agencies and companies from both the public and private sector. Mrs. Aulick has successfully managed several large scanning projects that have produced millions of images. Some of the recent projects have been in the medical field; converting thousands of patient records for clinics and hospitals, and in the banking industry; inventorying and converting thousands of real estate loans, to name a few.

Mrs. Aulick has a vision for DataVault that includes major product and services expansion into global markets and is dedicated to the successful growth of her company.

Mrs. Aulick is a Breast Cancer Survivor, diagnosed in May 2007 and recently received a clean bill-of-health. Mrs. Aulick volunteers in the community serving on the board and several committees of Y.O.U. Inc. (Youth Opportunities Upheld, Inc. www.youinc.org). She has been a keynote speaker at several important community events involving youth. She is currently writing a book, which she hopes to publish in 2013.
